How Agco users will benefit from data platform FieldView

A digital partnership between equipment manufacturer Agco and the Climate Corporation will enable operators of Agco’s Challenger, Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra products to connect with Climate’s FieldView online data platform.

FieldView users can collect, store and view field data while operating equipment, standing in a crop or working in the farm office and data can selectively be shared with business partners, agronomists and others as appropriate.

The platform provides real-time visualisation of farm data in maps covering key topics from crops as-planted to yield distribution in the field, with opportunities to compare data – said to be easier when different types are stored in the same place – and make agronomic decisions.

Chris Rhodes, director of business development for Agco’s Fuse technology arm, describes FieldView as the most broadly connected and adopted farm insight and visualisation platform.

“We’re pleased to be creating a tighter connection to it,” he says. Agco equipment users will connect through Climate’s FieldView Drive in-cab logger, which plugs into a tractor, sprayer or harvester CAN diagnostic port to capture both machine and field data.

A bluetooth connection displays the data on an Apple iPad as it is collected and individual machine progress can be monitored remotely to help manage operations in a busy season.

The FieldView Drive device was made compatible with Climate partner John Deere’s planters, air seeders, sprayers and combines this year, along with several Case IH planters and combines to add to existing equipment compatibilities.

From late 2017, Agco equipment users can also connect through the 20/20 SeedSense display that Agco acquired with Precision Planting, the former Climate Corporation equipment business, and through application program interfaces (APIs).

At some point next year, Agco factories will start producing equipment that is FieldView ready.
