Rauch Axmat Plus increases fertilising accuracy

Radar sensors that monitor the trajectory of fertiliser propelled from the spinning discs of a spreader are the latest aid to accurate distribution of crop nutrients. The Axmat Plus system is currently available for the top model in the Axis tractor-mounted spreader range manufactured and distributed in Germany by Rauch and distributed in the rest of the world by Kuhn.

27 radar sensors

It comprises 27 radar sensors arranged in a horseshoe shape beneath each of the machine’s 2 broadcasting discs. They scan the distribution of fertiliser prills and granules thrown from the vanes of the discs, and every 4 seconds these data are used by ‘intelligent’ software to analyse the pattern and adjust the disc feed-on point if it deviates from the optimum.

The Axmat system for top-spec Rauch / Kuhn Axis fertiliser spreaders is designed to maintain the optimum spreading pattern across working widths up to 50m (164ft).

Rauch engineers say the system compensates for changing ambient conditions and also fertiliser quality and consistency, all of which can have an impact on the spreading characteristics of fertilisers.

More precisely apply a wide range of fertilisers

They add that by continuously monitoring the spread pattern and independently fine-tuning the distribution from left and right discs, the Axmat Plus system makes it possible to more precisely apply a wide range of fertilisers across the spreader’s 12m to 50m (40ft to 164ft) working width. It also saves the time taken by operators to check and adjust the pattern manually when they want to make fertiliser applications as evenly as possible.

Precision farming features

The Rauch / Kuhn Axis H 50.2 EMC+W comes with hopper capacities from 3200- to 4200-litres (113 to 148cu ft) and several precision farming features, including

GNSS 8-section spreading width adjustment to minimise over-application on headlands and where treated areas converge.

Application rate control and adjustment uses the torque measured in the drive shaft for each disc and a built-in weighing system monitors the rate of use for calibration purposes and to display the amount of material in the hopper.
