Amazone Citan seed drill updates

The trailed machine is available in 12m and 15m (39 ft and 49 ft) widths for high-output sowing once seedbed cultivations have been completed. It also gets the ability to handle up to 3 different commodities and an upgrade for the disc coulter design.

Amazone 12 m and 15 m solo drills now come with Isobus control and an 8,000 litres (282 cu ft) hopper with triple metering systems for sowing combinations of different seeds and fertiliser.

Citan-C drill

At the heart of the Citan-C drill is a long, slim hopper that in its latest iteration is pressurised for consistent flow to the metering system and divided into 3 compartments. It can therefore carry up to 8,000 litres (282 cu ft) of seed, a combination of seed and fertiliser brought together in transit to the coulter, or a combination of different seeds – such as a cover crop mix.

There is electric drive to the metering rollers for variable-rate operation and half-width shut-off – operated manually or by gps section control – is standard.

The 3 metering rollers are driven by electric motors for variable rate control, and half-side shut off operated manually or by gps section control is standard. Now that Isobus-compliant electronics have been installed, the drill can be operated through a universal terminal from Amazone’s own selection, a third party device or the built-in display on a tractor.

RoTeC pro S coulters are now standard, comprising a 400 mm (16 in) diameter single disc with a plastic depth limiting disc alongside.

Selected setting-up functions, including calibration, can also be handled using the Twin-Terminal mounted on the front of the machine, where there is also a hand washing facility. RoTeC pro S single-disc coulters with have been adopted from the Amazone Cirrus as standard equipment for the Citan-C. Specifications include a 400 mm (16 in) Boron steel disc with clip-on Control 10 plastic depth limiting discs alongside and greater – up to 65 kg (143 lb) – down-pressure. This coulter, which has a narrower furrow opener than the version used previously, is better able to cope with significant amounts of surface trash and soils that are either damp and sticky or hard and dry, say Amazone engineers.
