A more spacious cab with a choice of comfort and convenience packages has been introduced with the new John Deere 400 Series and 600 Series self-propelled sprayers launched in North America and Australia.

All are available with the latest control technologies, including the See & Spray Select spot spraying system for pre-emergence herbicide applications.

Three models

Three models make up the 400 Series – the 408R with a 280hp engine and 3,000-litre (800-gallon) tank, which matches the current R4030; the 310hp 410R with 3,780-litre (1,000-gallon) tank that corresponds to the R4038; and the 412R, which has the same 4,540-litre (1,200-gallon) capacity as the R4045 but less power at 326hp versus 346hp.

More muscle: 612R with its 355hp

Alternatively, growers and custom operators wanting more muscle can opt for the 612R with its 355hp 9.0-litre Deere PowerTech engine, or lift output further by utilising the 6,056-litre (1,600-gallon) capacity of the 616R and its 375hp.

There are box applicator versions of the two most powerful models in each line-up, the 400R being available with a 5.66cu m (200cu ft) hopper while the 600R carries either the same box or an 8.50cu m (300cu ft) version.

Each 400 and 600 Series applicator is equipped with a JDLink telematics connection, integrated StarFire 6000 satellite signal receiver, 254mm (10in) 4600 Generation 4 CommandCenter display and AutoTrac guidance.

John Deere AutoTrac RowSense feeler guidance and AutoTrac Vision guidance – which detects crop rows in corn, soya and so on or tramlines in small seed crops – are also available.

ExactApply

A choice of nozzle body and spray tip installations includes the ExactApply multi-tip body with individual spray on/off for high definition section control and single- and dual-tip switching.

The latter provides easy access to different tips – switching between standard and low drift, for example – or to provide a broad range of ground speeds at a consistent application rate and pressure.

Buyers can also add the new See & Spray Select spot spraying system for pre-emergence weed control.

Maintain consistent boom height

BoomTrac Pro 2 can be added to maintain consistent boom height above the ground or crop, while pressure recirculation through the boom spraylines provides instant ‘spray on’ response while preventing sediments settling out, and air purging minimises the volume of contaminated liquid to deal with at the end of a job.

The machines’ CommandDrive hydrostatic four-wheel drive automatically increases engine revs for max power and torque when needed over undulating terrain, while Auto Mode for level ground maintains a selected ground speed at lowest revs to minimise fuel and DEF consumption.

New cab

In the new cab, mounted behind the engine as before, buyers have a choice of equipment levels, with Select comprising a cloth-covered mechanical suspension seat, basic radio with auxiliary and Bluetooth inputs, four USB ports and a 12V socket and auto air conditioning.

Premium adds electric seat adjustment, a touchscreen app radio with smartphone connectivity, foot rests both sides of the steering column shroud, a refrigerator and right-hand accessory rail for additional displays, while Ultimate packs a leather upholstered seat with massage, ventilation, heating and air suspension, and a leather wrapped steering wheel.
