At the Agritechnica show, Future Farming presented Argo Tractors with a special present: a canvas featuring the back page of Future Farming’s latest issue, which showed a McCormick advertisement.

McCormick is just 1 of Argo Tractors’ many brands, which include Landini and Valpadana. Argo Tractors is owned by the Italian Morra family, now in its fourth generation in the industry.

Old Landini factory

The heart of Argo Tractors is the Fabbrico production plant, the largest of the group with its 60 thousand square meters indoors. It’s built around the old Landini factory, founded in 1884.

Acquisition of McCormick

Landini S.p.A was acquired by the Argo Industrial group in 1994. The following year Valpadana of San Martino in in Rio also became part of the Argo group. In December 2000 the American brand McCormick was acquired, together with its historic British tractor assembly plant in Doncaster and the French facility in St. Dizier.

22,000 tractors a year

Argo Tractors has a production capacity of 22,000 tractors a year, divided among a total of 5 production plants located in Italy. It relies on a distribution network in Italy with more than 170 dealers. Worldwide Argo Tractors has 1,800 employees, 8 subsidiaries, 130 importers and a network of 2,500 dealers.

Over 550 models

Argo Tractor’s product range features over 550 models from 30 to 310 horsepower, families of 3, 4 and 6 cylinders, for terrains including open fields, orchards and vineyards and vehicles of all kind: tracked, isodiametric and utility.

More than 75% of the value of strategic components of the Landini, McCormick and Valpadana tractors – like gearbox housings, forks, wheel hubs, axles, gears, shafts – come from the Argo Tractors factories in Emilia. The manufacture of platforms and cabs is also done fully in-house.

New prototypes

The company invests 5.5% of its annual turnover (which exceeded 500 million euro in 2017) in R&D, housed in the new 3,000 square metre structure built specifically for the Fabbrico headquarters. Here new prototypes are being developed, and it’s home to 3 testing rooms, 2 for engines and 1 for transmissions, used to test all tractors from 50 to 300+ horsepower.

GPS systems

Last June Argo Tractors signed a global cooporation with Topcon Agriculture for the installation of GPS systems on all the ranges of Landini and McCormick tractors.
