Background

CC-Isobus A3 aux-n controller

A new auxiliary controller for Isobus capable implements has a bespoke touch screen display to show the functions it can handle and both acoustic and vibration response when the operator uses it.

The CCI A3 has been developed by the agricultural electronics association CC-Isobus for member companies to offer as original or optional equipment. Unlike other Isobus auxiliary controls – such as handgrips, joysticks and switch boxes – that are unlabelled or have generic function symbols, the A3 has an adaptable touch screen displaying bespoke function symbols. To cater for different types of implement and the number of control functions required, the screen is divided by clip-on frames in a choice of shapes, sizes and layouts.

The screen automatically responds to whichever frame is attached and operators have some control over which segments control which functions to suit individual preferences and priorities. To mimic the tactile response of a mechanical switch or button, the controller vibrates when one of the screen segments is touched and an audible signal is emitted.

CC-Isobus member companies are expected to adopt the new auxiliary controller across a range of machines from fertiliser spreaders and crop sprayers to balers and potato or sugar beet harvesters. The organisation was formed by a group of European farm machinery manufacturers to develop innovative agricultural electronics and help create and advance the Isobus data standard.

They have since been joined by a number of other farm equipment and software businesses.
