Pin code to prevent theft of John Deere displays

An anti-theft system with a pin code is to prevent theft of John Deere displays and receivers.

John Deere launches an anti-theft system for their GreenStar displays and StarFire GPS receivers. The system uses a pin code, needed to activate the display and receiver. Without this pin code, the display and receiver are useless and less likely to be stolen, says John Deere.

Vulnerable to theft

The pin code should change that. The user needs to type in the code using the John Deere display in order to activate both the display and the receiver. In case you forget the code, you can still use both systems for a limited period of 72 hours. After that period, a main unlock code is needed, that can be generated using the StellarSupport online portal.
