Indian tractor manufacturer Escorts Ltd is to develop digital farming solutions. For this, it will work together with Manipal University.

Tractor manufacturer Escorts Ltd, which presented its robot tractor Autonomous Farmtrac last year, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Manipal University Jaipur.

Under the MoU, Escorts will provide data inputs, a real testing environment and financial support, while Manipal University is to provide laboratory space, design and development of the systems, manpower and system testing.

Digitrac

Both the parties will work towards enhancing farming experience through digital solutions offered by a mobile application called Digitrac, which was already developed by Escorts.

Escorts launched this online tractor and agri-service platform in India in September 2018 along with its automated concept tractor in New Delhi.

Deep learning

Escorts and Manipal will focus on smart farming and agriculture monitoring using deep learning. From monitoring crop diseases to increasing yields and productivity, the alliance is expected to help farmers in various ways.

Personalised agri-recommendations

Speaking on this, Neeraj Mehra, Chief Sales Officer, Escorts said that providing sustainable agriculture solutions to farmers is crucial. Customised agri-information

Digitrac currently provides front-end farmer interface for agri-inputs and customised agri-information. From facilitating transparent purchase of farm equipment to receiving real time farming inputs and updates, the app gives farmers the possibility to make informed decisions.
