Climate FieldView connects with Claas Telematics

Climate FieldView and Claas Telematics can now be connected through the Claas API to enable easy data exchange for field-specific, site-specific documentation.

Climate FieldView is the flagship product of The Climate Corporation (Bayer’s digital farming arm). Claas Telematics, which is fitted as standard on many Claas tractors, combines and forage harvesters, continuously retrieves and records work data, tracks and yield data from connected machines.

Seamless transfer of harvest information

The FieldView platform and the Claas Telematics portal can now be connected via the Claas API (application programming interface). The connection is to offer access to new data science capabilities by ensuring seamless transfer of harvest information and insights from Claas Telematics to FieldView.

The Automatic Documentation add-on option in Claas Telematics facilitates driver-independent, field-specific and site-specific documentation. This makes it possible to obtain a complete overview of each field worked taking account of all recorded parameters. In addition to machine data and consumption figures, yield data and measurements from NIR sensors, for example, can also be documented.

When a farmer or contractor connects their Telematics account to their FieldView account via the Claas API, the documented harvest values from the Telematics system are retrieved and sent to the FieldView user’s inbox as posting proposals. From there, the customer can select the files they’d like to sync with their FieldView account and further process the complete field-related documentation in FieldView.

Generate site-specific planting prescriptions or fertiliser maps

With this connectivity, yield values and yield maps from a Claas combine harvester can be used in FieldView to generate site-specific planting prescriptions or fertiliser maps for the coming season – helping farmers increase their profitability, actively manage risk and save valuable time by gathering data and conducting analysis all in one place.

Each individual customer connects their two accounts. Agronomic information is exchanged only between the accounts of FieldView and Claas Telematics customers who chose to enable the offering. Farmers or contractors can independently revoke the connection in the Telematics or FieldView portal at any time and disable the data exchange.

Claas Telematics

This system is fitted as standard on many Claas tractors, combines and forage harvesters to continuously retrieve and record work data, tracks and yield data from connected machines. All data are transmitted via the mobile phone network from the machines to the server, where they are processed and stored. The “automatic documentation” add-on module automatically assigns recorded data to the fields which have been worked. The data can be accessed and evaluated online in real time or retrospectively via the Telematics website using the farm PC, laptop or smartphone or export them to any common farm management software program. Claas says all Telematics users have full control of their farm data as the machine and agronomic data is only recorded and stored after the customer has given the consent.
