Brand-independent digital farming with NEXT

04-11-2019 | |
NEXT Machine Management is a product that lets farmers easily integrate every machine into their production processes, including planning and scheduling orders, legal documentation, field mapping and wayline administration. The farmer has more transparency and a basis for future improvements in their operations. This is essential for automated, process-oriented data use, especially for companies with mixed fleets.

The farmer has more transparency and a basis for future improvements in their operations. This is essential for automated, process-oriented data use, especially for companies with mixed fleets.

The NEXT Machine Management module enables compatibility between machinery and equipment from different manufacturers and can be used with all data sources.

Together with the agricultural equipment manufacturers AGCO, Krone, Kuhn, Lemken, Pöttinger and Rauch, FarmFacts GmbH, a full subsidiary of BayWa AG, is bringing a software solution to manufacturer-independent digital farming to Agritechnica with the aim of launching it on the market.

Compatibility

The so-called NEXT Machine Management module enables compatibility between machinery and equipment from different manufacturers and can be used with all data sources.

In addition, the automated documentation of data is to provide reassurance to farmers when it comes to evidence of measures carried out in their fields.

“It is exceptional that several large agricultural equipment manufacturers have agreed on one common digital basis, and it will boost the acceptance of digital solutions among farmers further,” says Klaus Josef Lutz, Chief Executive Officer of BayWa AG.

BayWa says according to surveys, it is the lack of compatibility between technology and software as well as the lack of standards that are the main reasons why farmers – mainly in smaller regions – have so far shied away from investing in digitalisation.

Lutz goes on to say: “Our aim is for all farmers to be able to benefit from smart farming technologies, regardless of what agricultural equipment brand they prefer, how many hectares they farm or whether or not their farms are organic.”

Data belongs to the farmer

The NEXT Machine Management software module is integrated in the NEXT Farming farm management system from FarmFacts. It meets German IT security standards for data protection and data security. Any data belongs exclusively to the farmer in the same way as all NEXT Farming modules.

NEXT Machine Management is supplied by the individual manufacturers AGCO, Krone, Kuhn, Lemken, Pöttinger and Rauch, or can be purchased directly from FarmFacts. It can also be used with machinery that is already used on the farms.
