Knowing the soil moisture at several depths allows growers to track the health of plants at their active root zone during the whole crop cycle.
SensoTerra has launched its new Multi Depth soil moisture sensor. The sensor comes with six soil moisture sensors in one device.
Knowing the soil moisture at several depths will allow growers to track the health of their plants at its active root zone during the whole crop cycle. Also, with multiple points of measurement growers can measure moisture levels at different soil horizons.

The sensors are wireless and use the LoRaWAN network to get data out of the fields and into the growers’ hands. SensoTerra says the Multi Depth sensor has the same farm-tough robustness as their Single Depth sensor: “Hammer it into the ground. No buttons, no screens, no nonsense.”
An external antenna is mounted above the crop. Thisis to significantly improve connectivity, and makes the Multi Depth sensor suitable even for crops with large canopies.
Growers can access their data in the cloud via web-based interface or on a smartphone using the Sensoterra app. The company has an API for integrating the data into your own data dashboard or system.

Soil moisture content is being measured at six different depths:
Also, there’s a soil temperature sensor at 25 cm/10 inches.
