Doosan Bobcat previously showcased an autonomous RogueX skid-steer loader in 2023. This year, the machinery manufacturer is presenting a second version of it at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA.

At CES in Las Vegas, Doosan Bobcat is unveiling an autonomous skid-steer loader named RogueX2. The RogueX2 is a follow-up to the RogueX skid-steer loader presented in 2023. It’s a concept version and is not yet for sale.

With the RogueX2 skid-steer loader, Bobcat aims to show trade show visitors what telehandlers and skid-steer loaders will look like in the future. At the same time, Bobcat uses this opportunity to gauge customer reactions and challenges its development department to think differently. According to Bobcat, the two concept versions have resulted in many new patents.

Cabin is absent

Notably, the RogueX2, like the first RogueX, also lacks a cabin. It also does away with diesel and hydraulic oil; Bobcat states that the machine is powered by a lithium-ion battery and its entire drive system consists of (linear) electric motors.

From tracks to wheels

The original concept featured tracks. Instead, the RogueX2 runs on wheels due to its lower energy requirements, allowing the machine to operate longer on a single battery charge. So-called axial flux wheel motors power the wheels.
