Plantium launches Terran robot for selective spraying

The Terran autonomous electric robot for selective spraying is to reduce the compounds used by up to 90%.

At the Expoagro 2020 exhibition, Plantium presented Terran, the autonomous electric robot for selective spraying that is to reduce the compounds used by up to 90%.

Selective variable rate spraying

The Terran spraying robot is controlled remotely and uses satellite navigation and pre-mapped routes for selective variable rate spraying. Using data, the robot automatically starts and stops spraying at the right places. According to Plantium, characteristics such as flow, pressure and size and quantity of sprayed droplets are also pre-defined.

Terran has a load capacity of 600 liters. Plantium says it can spray over 50 hectares with each tank load. The working width it is 10 meters, maximum speed is 18 km/h.

Terran works with two alternatives as a power source. One consists of a generator that charges the batteries. The other alternative is that the batteries power the machine directly. In both cases, the robot can run autonomously for 8 hours. Charging the batteries takes 3 to 4 hours, according to Plantium’s engineer Jorge Gentili.

Plantium says it will equip Terran in the near future with an on-board weather station that measures wind speed, relative humidity and temperature. Based on these variables, the computer will optimise application, in order to minimise drift and achieve the possible coverage.
