The German machinery manufacturer Amazone is investing in the construction of two production halls at its subsidiary BBG Bodenbearbeitungsgeräte in Leipzig (Germany).
At the Leipzig plant, Amazone produces machinery for soil tillage and crop protection. BBG Bodenbearbeitungsgeräte Leipzig, part of the Amazone Group since 1999, is being significantly expanded with two new halls, each measuring 4,000 m².
With this factory expansion, Amazone aims to create additional production capacity for its soil tillage and crop protection machinery. This includes the production of, among others, the Amazone Catros and Certos compact disc harrows, the Cayron ploughs, the UG field sprayers, and hoeing machines. In doing so, the manufacturer is responding to the growing demand for agricultural machinery.
An important reason for the factory expansion is the relocation of the production of Schmotzer hoeing machines from Bad Windsheim (Bavaria) to Leipzig (Saxony) in the summer of 2024. Amazone took over production of Schmotzer there in 2019.
The completion of the new production halls is scheduled for November 2025.
