The French machinery manufacturer Manitou, known for telehandlers, mini loaders and skid steer loaders, has acquired the robotics division of the French company Sitia.
The acquisition of the French company Sitia is part of Manitou’s strategic plan to integrate robotics into its machines. To this end, Manitou is establishing a new division this year: Manitou Group Robotics.
The robotics division of Sitia consists of a team of seven specialists, including experienced engineers in the field of robotics. They have, among other things, worked on the development of the autonomous tractor Trektor.
Since 2010, Sitia has been focusing on robotics. In 2019, the company developed the hybride autonomous tractor Trektor. It is suitable for various agricultural applications in viticulture, horticulture and vegetable cultivation. The Trektor operates fully autonomously for up to 24 hours, 4 of which are entirely electric.
The Trektor has already been extensively tested. The autonomous tractor is being deployed in various regions in France, particularly in viticulture and vegetable cultivation.
