Proagrica, part of RELX Group and publisher of Future Farming and other international titles, has acquired US based software provider SST Software. SST Software provides all the pieces necessary for precision agriculture. The transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close during the first quarter of 2018.
“This is an important commitment to Proagrica’s development, particularly in North America,” says Graeme McCracken, Managing Director of Proagrica. “This deal is hugely exciting for Proagrica. The combination of our data connectivity and data analytics, and SST’s focus on the agriculture retail and agronomy services market segment means we can create a unique solution that will provide insight into the fragmented supply chain. We are very focused on accelerating the development of the core SST solutions, but in particular look forward to further develop SST’s agX Platform, a geospatial farm data platform that transfers data from system to system, an issue that has long been a significant obstacle in the development of precision farming.”
SST (Site-Specific Technologies) Software is a privately-owned company from Stillwater, Oklahoma and was founded by farmers in 1994. SST enhances cultivation practices through the development of enterprise level software that assists companies in providing top quality precision ag services. Applications include SST Summit, FarmRite, Sirrus and SST Analytics. SST will continue to trade under the SST brands alongside Proagrica’s current product portfolio. SST’s CEO, Matt Waits will continue to lead the organisation from its headquarters in Stillwater.
